One common scam, for example, is getting you to pay for a backlink that quickly disappears or becomes “no follow,” which makes it useless to you. That’s why it’s important to keep an eye out and check if your link is still live or if the link has “nofollow” tag. There are so many people selling backlinks and link building services today that you can’t simply trust them all; it’s necessary to look into their reputation and make sure they really do the work they promise to do.
It also does not pay to link to sites that have a poor reputation, you should avoid these sites like plague.
When Google sees these links on your site they automatically assume that you are endorsing them and whatever they are doing that gave them a bad reputation. This should be reason enough to inspect any links that appear on your site.
Remember, that once your pages become authority pages in Google’s eyes, they will be worth money to other marketers if they can get one of their backlinks on your; however, if anyone wants to put a link on your page that leads to a unethical resource just turn down the offer.
Avoid rushing through the link building process because you will make simple mistakes like misspelling your anchor text.
Also, image links work but they are not as powerful as text links with anchor text. Yes an image link might be able to get you high traffic since it’s an image after all but when you look at it from the SEO perspective, the best option would be your keyword in the anchor text.
Times have changed in this new decade and they require for you to evolve your SEO know how. For your own good, don’t be like the thousands of webmasters who make these same link building mistakes day-in and day out.
