Twitter and Facebook scams have been appearing more and more on our profiles home pages. They have become more and more dangerous. One bringing you to a replica Twitter site and stealing your login information.
Scammers are smart and they have beaten past Twitters defenses consistently. Now Biy.ly Twitters default URL shortener has decided to take action and try to combat the scams on its own.
The company announced today that they will integrate Bit.ly with spam and malware protection services. This will make sure that bit.ly links do not lead to malware, or fake websites etc.
It will be interesting enough to see how well this works and if it will in fact defeat the scams that are becoming more and more frequent.
