IKEA Use Facebook For A Genius Marketing Idea

IKEA the Swedish furniture company opened a new store in Malmo Sweden. They decided to promote this store differently than how they promoted their others. Instead of the old fashioned way, of big signs and TV advertisements, Ikea decided to open a Facebook account for the manager of the store Gordon Gustavsson.

What they did was upload 12 showroom pictures to his profile over a two week period. When a user “tagged” an item on the picture they got to take that item home. This was a great marketing idea. Word of the offer spread amongst friends, it appeared in peoples feed and so on so forth. They took advantage of “tagging” which took their advertisement to thousands and thousands of people free. Interview With Paypals President On The Future Of Paypal

Paypal yesterday held their Paypal Innovatetive 2009 conference. They launched their new Paypal X Platform for third party developers to intergrate payment services into their own apps.

Paypal also offered support for new currencies, bringing their total now to 24.

“fly advertisments” Attach banner ads to real flies?

Ok this video was found online. I saw it posted on mashable but my god it is weird. A german compnay attaches their physical banner advertisments to real FLIES! It takes flying advertisments too a new level. But it seems to work. I’ll let you decide your own view on this one..
