Changing permalink structures on your worpress blog

WordPress is a great blogging platform that gives its user a great advantage from the start over other bloggers, using other platforms. WordPress has many build in SEO features that make it stand out from the rest. One of the most important features in my opinion is the permalink feature. I think that the way you set this has a huge effect on your search engine rankings and the amount of traffic that you will receive from search engines.

By default, your WordPress Dashboard gives you a 3 choices to choose from.  The default in my opinion is terrible and I suggest that no one use it. If you currently have it set to default then read below on how to change it and do.

This is easy to set up. Go into your blog’s Options panel and click on the Permalinks tab, situated under settings tab. You should see the following:

WordPress Permalink Structure

Click the custom radio button and type /%postname%/ into the field. This is the most ideal setup for your WordPress blog.

This by far in my opinion is the best way to have it. You can include many keywords in your title that will help search engines to find your website and posts.
