Digg Adds Their Own Version Of Trends

We’ve seen Youtube do it and now Digg announced today that they will also be adding their own spin off of trending topics. It seems that everyone wants to steal a bit of Twitter for their website.

Digg will be calling this “Dubbed Digg Trends” where the trending story will be shown on the top of the homepage for 10 minutes at a time , with a timer counting down the minutes and seconds. This is their take on the success of trends.

The story which appears on the top will be decided based on high volume of diggs, comments, favourites, shares and activity. Users are then given the option too vote by digging or burying the story to determine its popularity. If it gets enough diggs, it will stay on the home page if not the trend will be shown as failed.

According to Digg’s blog post on the newly released featured,

“The goal of Digg Trends is to put high activity stories in front of the community quickly and to present a fun new way for people to express whether they like the story or not. We only show the most basic information for each story so as to ensure that voting is as unbiased as possible.”
